Within each section the material is organized chronologically where feasible. The files include correspondence, literature and other material emanating from the national, provincial and local C.C.F. Also included is material from other political parties.

Pre-1943 Period

This category concerns some aspects of Robinson's life before his election to public office, including his work as machinist for the C.N.R., some material about his activities in the labor movement as an executive officer in the I.A.M. (International Association of Machinists) and the Port Arthur Trades and Labor Council, and on the Lakehead Council of the Canadian League for Peace and Democracy. The folders contain material of local, national, and in some cases, international origin.

Field List

Notes concerning the bird sightings in North Shore in 1985 and weather conditions, including wind directions, temperature, etc. and the effect on the birds in the area.

The Summary of North-Shore Birds

Summaries organized by bird species of the notes taken over the years of each specific bird and their behaviours, including where/when they ate, where they were sighted, and if they were in flocks or alone.

Development of the Faculty of Education at Lakehead University

Series consists of the formation of the Faculty of Education records made and received by the Dean of the Faculty of Education in the course of administering its programs and operations. Activities documented include legal agreements, revised constitutions, bylaws and memorandum of understanding. Records also include policy, administrative and teaching decisions, degree and staffing structure, curriculum and programmes, budgets and correspondence with various universities. Also included are articles and papers on graduate studies in education in the province of Ontario; Teachers’ College and universities assuming responsibility for teacher education and Teachers’ College affiliation with universities; the MacLeod Report is frequently mentioned. Proposals include: reorganization of the student teaching programmes in elementary education; proposed organization of the Faculty of Education. Policy statements include: OCUFA (Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations) statement on amalgamation of Elementary Teachers’ College with the universities.

Canadan Suomalainen Järjestö

Consists of records relating to the CSJ, its Executive Board, and Branches. Activities of the organization include political and international concerns including the peace movement; culture and sports; educational programs; and women’s, youth, and children’s groups. Most documents are typescript and for internal use; some are printed for distribution to the membership.

Locals

The series contains documents such as agreements and correspondence specific to Locals at various industry sites in the Northwestern Ontario Region, including: Caland Ore Mine, Dickenson Mines, Griffith Mine, INCO, Madsen Red Lake Gold Mines, Mattabi Mines, Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company, UMEX, and more.

Herbarium Papers

Records related to the Herbarium collection and the preparation of the Index of Specimens. Includes three volumes of collection records, a working copy of the Index, and final version of the Index.

Parks Planning Advocacy

The Ministry of Natural Resources began developing master plans for parks in the 1970s. The plan for Sleeping Giant Provincial Park (at that time Sibley Provincial Park) didn’t rely on any public consultation, and was not well received.

As more Park Plans were rolled out, the MNR engaged in more consultation. Responses to plans as well as draft and final Plans are included in these records.
