    Institutionele geschiedenis

    Founded as Lakehead Teachers' College in 1960. Joined Lakehead University and became the Faculty of Education in 1969. Includes undergraduate and graduate programmes, professional development for teachers, and the Department of Indigenous Education. Since the opening of Lakehead's Orillia Campus, Education programmes have been available on both campuses.

    Most records were gathered by Faculty of Education staff and faculty members and kept in the Education Library. A significant amount of material was digitized in 2023. Described for archival access in Summer 2025.

    Records of Keewatinase, the Department of Indigenous Education, Faculty of Education, Lakehead University. A significant amount of the material relates to Native Language Instructors' Program, NLIP, after 2001 known as Anishinaabemowik.

    The records include reports and administrative records, program newsletters, yearbooks, student and instructor handbooks, and ephemera.

    Languages represented in the program include Ojibwe/Anishinaabemowin, Oji-Cree/Anishininimowin/Severn Ojibwe, and Cree/nēhiyawēwin.
