The CTKL distributed and supported the I.W.W. Finnish language paper Industrialisti, published in Duluth, Minnesota, by the Workers (Socialist) Publishing Company. The Canadian News Service (C.N.S), in Finnish the Canadan Uutistoimisto (C.U.T.), was the agency of the CTKL which managed the distribution of the paper. The CTKL secretary-treasurer was also the agent of the news service unless otherwise designated.

The C.N.S. was much more than a distributor of newspapers; it existed as a supportive agency for new immigrants. The C.N.S. at times operated as a travel agency, a book store, a record store, a book and play library, and often sent parcels and money on behalf of Finns and their relatives in Finland. During the latter part of the CTKL, it was the C.N.S. that was the active component in the community.

The Coalition for Wilderness, initially proposed by Addison, represented five groups in speaking for wilderness parks in Ontario: Algonquin Wildlands League, Canadian Nature Federation, Federation of Ontario Naturalists, National and Provincial Parks Association of Canada, and Sierra Club Ontario Chapter.

Series consists of administrative files held by the Principal and Office of the Chief Librarian including faculty council minutes and correspondence, reports, policies and budgets created by the Academic Senate and its various committees. Also includes correspondence created by affiliated agencies.
Topics include proposed programs, enrollment, admission requirements, space allocation, governing post-secondary education and capital grants for future buildings and an ambitious five year plan.

In 1909 two groups, the New Attempt Temperance Society and the Finnish-American Workers' League Imatra #9, formed the Finnish Building Company (Big Finn Hall) at 314 Bay Street. A number of individual shares were sold but a substantial majority were held by the two founding organizations having received nearly equivalent number of shares in return for turning over their assets.

Throughout its history, the Labour Temple has been a centre of Finnish social life in Thunder Bay. The usual activities have included socials, dances, speaking events, rehearsals, and presentations by theatrical clubs, choirs, bands, and gymnastic clubs. The Hall also hosted a number of national labour conventions in its early years.

Canadian Suomi Foundation donation to the Lakehead University Finnish Chair Fund, 1992. Beginnings of Project Bay Street no. 5 on the cultural history of Northwestern Ontario to include music, theatre, art, craft, & literature with grant assistance from the Secretary of State Department, Student Community Services. Agreements 1979 between Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society and TBFCHS to accept on loan the collection of photographs, documents and artifacts.
