Custodial history
Photo album was assembled and kept by Elle and Arne Taipale, passed to Kathleen (Taipale) Islam, and then to Gail Heberland.
Scope and content
10 pages of a photo album with images showing daily life and family members, both in the Thunder Bay area and elsewhere, 1920s and 1930s. Arne Taipale was a logger in the Pigeon River area, and some photographs were taken in the area and reflect this work.
Elle migrated from Finland to Port Arthur circa 1923, and met Arne, also Finnish, in Port Arthur. He worked as a logger, but later trained as a plumber. They lived first on Secord St., and later on a homestead near Dog Lake.
