2003 Workshop by Bancroft Institute invites researchers and community groups to brainstorm for a research initiative to focus on injured workers creating the Community-University Research Alliance on Work Injury; research lead Emile Tompa Institute of Work & Health, Toronto, community lead Steve Mantis ONIWG, Bancroft Rep Marion Endicott Injured Workers Consultants.
ONIWG community based project 2004 partners with 15 researchers from 6 universities, funded in 2006, to form Research Action Alliance on the Consequences of Work Injury (RAACWI), with a Community Working Group (CWG) to plan and organize activities and events; training programs-Injured Worker Speaker School, education and outreach-RAACWI Community Forums 2008-2011, Action-Knowledge mobilization.
