Parks Planning Advocacy

The Ministry of Natural Resources began developing master plans for parks in the 1970s. The plan for Sleeping Giant Provincial Park (at that time Sibley Provincial Park) didn’t rely on any public consultation, and was not well received.

As more Park Plans were rolled out, the MNR engaged in more consultation. Responses to plans as well as draft and final Plans are included in these records.

Photographs and Negatives

A collection of photographs, negatives, contact sheets and slides that relate to students, faculty, alumni, events, and the Lakehead University campus over the decades. The collection ranges from the 1960s into the 1990s with the majority pertaining to the 1980s and early 1990s. The collections are almost evenly split between the photographs and negatives that were collected by the Alumni Association of Lakehead University.

Political Affairs (relating to the CCF)

These folders are listed topically into five sections:

  1. Provincial elections; 2. C.C.F. National and Provincial Offices; 3. Port Arthur Constituency; 4. Radio and Publicity; 5. Federal Affairs, 1957-63.

Within each section the material is organized chronologically where feasible. The files include correspondence, literature and other material emanating from the national, provincial and local C.C.F. Also included is material from other political parties.
