Records of two oral history research projects conducted by Dr. Raija Warkentin.

First: Records of an oral history project conducted with people who travelled to Soviet Karelia. Includes approved and unapproved transcripts, audio cassette recordings, agreements with researchers, and related documentation.

Second: Records of an oral history project on Finnish-Canadian women's health. Includes transcripts, agreements, and related documentation.

Many of the documents include information that interviewees wish to be kept private. Access will be restricted, except for approved transcripts, and when appropriate measures or agremeents are in place.

The fonds consists of one diary, with entries made sporadically between 1938 and 1952. Entries relate to family, to the work of mink farming, and to weather and wildlife.

Arthur Ellsworth "Elza" Swaim (1881-1953) was CNR section foreman in Larson, Ontario, where he also established and earned renown for a large mink ranch. He lived in Larson with his wife Josephine "Josie."
