Thunder Gay Magazine (television)

A complete run of Thunder Gay Magazine, as produced by Doug Broman for Thunder Bay Television. Shows varied in length, with early episodes 15 minutes, later episodes usually 30 minutes, and some hour-long. Each generally focused on a primary topic of interest to LGBTQ+ viewers, and also included news updates and information about social events.

All are available on VHS cassette and some are also available digitally.

TB LGBT History Documents

Includes news clippings, LGBT publications, posters and brochures for local events and services. Also includes materials for training and education programs about LGBTQ issues and homophobia.

Same Sex Marriage

News clippings, posters and brochures for events, primarily related to the Canadian government decision on same sex marriage in 2004-2005. Most records have a local focus.

Safe Schools

Workshops and reference material on supporting LGBTQ+ youth particularly in schools, also news clippings and stories.

News clippings, newsletters, correspondence with political representatives, and notes. Primarily focused on same sex marriage rights in Ontario.

News clippings and publications, relating to ordination of LGBTQ+ people, spousal benefits, and other rights issues.

Also includes newsletters of the Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Rights in Ontario.

Research: Homophobia and Violence

Posters produced by AIDS Committee of Thunder Bay and others, event posters, news clippings and magazine articles. Many on the subject of homophobia and violence.

Research: Gays of Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay History

Information regarding Gays of Thunder Bay, including the organization's history and constitution. The organization later became Gays and Lesbians of Thunder Bay, and then Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals of Thunder Bay.

Also includes Belrose's writing about the history of LGBTQ+ organizations in Thunder Bay, information about the Backstreet Athletic Club Auxiliary, and news clippings and stories related to same-sex spousal rights and anti-discrimination laws.

Also includes copies of homophobic material.

Research and Reading

Publications, news clippings, conference materials, bibliographies of LGBTQ+ books, magazines including mainstream publications addressing LGBTQ+ issues, and legislative briefs on LGBTQ+ issues.

Research and Activism

Consists of files on a variety of issues affecting LGBTQ+ people in Northwestern Ontario particularly, and in Canada and worldwide. Files include correspondence, news clippings, and documents. Many files on local issues include material authored by Belrose.

Also includes records of local groups including Gays of Thunder Bay (1980-1993), Out and About, BGLLU, Pride Central, Northern Pride youth group, and AIDS Committee of Thunder Bay / AIDS Thunder Bay.

Religion and Homosexuality

Publications and brochures, news clippings, and notes, relating to the intersection of LGBTQ+ issues and various Christian denominations.

Out and About Resources

Correspondence between members of the steering committee, events planning. Also includes many publications from other organizations, including the Northern Women's Centre.
