Dr. Ellie Prepas fonds

  • Fonds
  • 1973 - 2009

The records consist primarily of several decades of research data from the study of water quality in lakes. Prepas, who is Professor Emeritus of Natural Resource Management at Lakehead University, was also formerly employed at the University of Alberta. Much of the research was conducted on Alberta lakes, with some performed in Northwestern Ontario as well. A significant portion of the third accession consists of slides and print photographs showing research activities.

The records also include some teaching notes and course materials, as well as some correspondence and administrative material.

Lakehead University’s Strategic Plan 2005-2010
Lakehead University Pandemic Influenza Response Plan (2009)

Sunday Services

Order of service materials. Textual documents and art. The LUF was only able to meet on a regular and consistent basis after they got their own building, before then then they met usually only once a month at various locations that were often announced a few weeks before the date of service. Order of service booklets vary.

Lands for Life/Living Legacy Trust

  • Collection
  • 1971 - 2009

The Ontario government's planning process for forestry and land management through the late 1990s and early 2000s, represented in the records of the Boreal West Round Table, Lands for Life planning process, and Living Legacy Trust.

Lands for Life was a comprehensive land-use planning process that also considered environmental protection in Ontario. It was announced in February, 1997 by the Minister of Natural Resources. The goal was to address the increasing demands for access to the province's natural resources. It was designed for all areas of the Precambrian shield south of 51 degrees latitude.

The project created three "Round Tables" made up of citizens with knowledge of the land, or who were involved with resource based businesses. The Round Tables were: Boreal West (Northwestern Ontario), Boreal East (Eastern Ontario), and Great Lakes - St. Lawrence (Southern Ontario).

As the Lands for Life project concluded, the Province designated the Living Legacy Trust fund to support land use planning and natural resources and environmental management. This fund ran from 1999 to 2004.

Congregational Health

The board would 'check in' with the thoughts and feelings of the congregation by offering surveys and encouraging feedback. In 2009, they launched a formal project to determine the needs of the congregation and prepared a draft of recommendations for "a way forward" to ensure LUF was serving the community in the best way they could.

Living Legacy Trust

As the Lands for Life project concluded, the Province designated the Living Legacy Trust fund to support land use planning and natural resources and environmental management. This fund ran from 1999 to 2004, and remaining monies were granted to Lakehead University for related projects.

The records here consist mostly of reports of projects funded by the Trust.
