Steve Mantis served for the term of January 1991 to December 1993 as a member of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Board of Directors. He was the first person appointed to the Board as a representative for workers.
The Workers Compensation Board, since renamed the Workplace Safety Insurance Board, was established January 1, 1915. It administers claims and compensation for people injured in the workplace. It is an Ontario government agency, with an arms-length relationship to the Ministry of Labour, and appointments to the Board of Directors are made by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
As well as acting on the Board of Directors, Steve Mantis served as a member of the WCB Audit Committee (1992) and as Chair of Rehabilitation of the Strategic Planning Co-Ordinating Committee (September 1993).
