The New Directions Speakers' School (NDSS) was founded in 2008, initially as the New Directions Workers Resource Centre. It began as an initiative of the Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers' Support Group, and has worked in partnership with the Lakehead Social Planning Council, Kinna-aweya Legal Clinic, Elizabeth Fry Society, Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, and Shelter House Thunder Bay.

NDSS offers courses in effective communication, public speaking and group facilitation. NDSS leaders, facilitators, students, and graduates are empowered to support their community through education and speak to social issues; and are also supported in employment, with a wider aim of poverty reduction.

This series consists of files from 2008-2016 that show the development, administration, programs and research associated with the New Directions Speakers School and New Directions Workers Resource Centre.
